Priorities

I was appointed to Lakewood City Council in late-2024. In that time, I’ve worked hard to enact legislation I believe is key to creating a stronger Lakewood. Between my own ideas, and the input I get from residents every day there’s a lot to get done. I hope to earn your vote so I can work on some big ideas for this city that revolve around changing, shifting, and enhancing the culture of Lakewood.

High-Quality Constituent Services

Bryan’s role in city council begins and ends with the residents of Ward 2; connecting people to resources, solving problems, listening to ideas, and advocating for change. The most important job of any councilperson is also the most straightforward - listening. From power outages, to unkempt commercial spaces, Bryan pledges to listen to the thoughts, concerns, and ideas of residents.

During his first term, Bryan worked hard to connect residents to resources at City Hall, and facilitate a positive experience. He advocated for legislation to improve the lives of all Lakewood residents and promoted a more positive and constructive interface between residents and City Hall.

Safe Streets

We all deserve to get where we’re going safely.

Bryan strongly believes we must work together, as policy-makers and citizens, to change our transportation culture from driver-centric to one that balances the needs of all people. Paths, roads, streets, and sidewalks should be safe for everyone, no matter how you decide to get where you’re going.

Legislatively, he is focused on deploying complete streets strategies city-wide, as well as upgrading pedestrian crossing infrastructure and management.

Bryan also believes we must have a concerted effort to crack down on distracted and aggressive driving in the city.

Affordable Housing

Lakewood is a welcoming community to all, but a culture shift is needed to be more proactive in regard to creating truly affordable housing options. In his first term, Bryan has taken an important role in revamping our zoning code as a good first step that can make different housing types easier to build. The reality is a lot more work is needed to ensure that every person has a place in Lakewood.

Revamping our code will allow us to more rapidly and effectively deploy auxiliary dwelling units (ADUs) and other one-floor living options. We also need to fight to ensure the inclusion of affordable units in development projects.

To maintain healthy and safe housing, Bryan believes in targeted code enforcement to maintain safe residential properties. City hall must also play a critical role connecting residents to resources that exist to keep them in their homes.

Strategic Development & Redevelopment

Lakewood is a thriving community teaming with opportunity. Bryan will continue to use his office to ensure high-quality design and execution of development that adds to the character of Lakewood’s unique and defining commercial corridors and historic housing stock.

We must provide housing options that both attract new residents, while retaining our existing population with a variety of housing options for differing age and socioeconomic classes.

Enhanced Parks & Public Spaces

Lakewood has an abundance of high quality parks and public spaces. It’s one of our key assets and we must work to maximize what we have and build on our advantage. Bryan will continue to advocate for the highest maintenance standards for parks and public art, both new and existing. Investments in our tree canopy, especially after recent losses due to violent storms, is key.

The Lakewood community has always been attractive to creatives, with hundreds of artists, crafters, and makers calling the city home. We should, as a community, do a better job of celebrating our creativity, making it a part of our identity, increasing public art projects and opportunities throughout the city, and fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for all our creative residents.
